Although it doesn’t look like a younger version of Bruce Wayne will be appearing on “Smallville” this season, FilmJerk.com can reveal that at least one comic book regular will definitely be making the transition to the small screen this next season: Perry White.
According to a casting document that went out earlier this week to actor’s agents that we were able to obtain, casting directors and producers are looking to audition star names for the role of the future editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet in Metropolis. The role will be billed as a guest star for the episodes, although the number that he will be appearing in is undetermined at this time.
In the casting notes, White is listed as somewhere between 30 and 45 years old and running a small town newspaper in Smallville. The actor chosen for this part would shoot his scenes from August 28 through September 9. It looks as if it is plausible he could be a recurring character throughout the season.
Executive producer Al Gough told fans earlier in July they were likely to see White and Jimmy Olsen this season, as well as he had hoped to see Wayne (also known as Batman). But according to a recent interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that might not happen with Warner Bros. planning to do another film on the character.
The third season premiere for “Smallville” is set for October 1, picking up three months after last season’s cliffhanger.
