First Sunday (Screen Gems): David E. Talbert’s caper comedy about two petty criminals who plans to rip off their church is set to open January 18

Gangsta Rap: The Glockumentary (Ill Ville Films/Big Business): Damon “Coke” Daniels, who co-wrote My Baby’s Daddy with Eddie Griffin, writes and directs this comedy about the hip-hop group Gangsta Rap, opening throughout the Los Angeles Metro Area on March 2

Hotel Translyvania (Columbia Pictures): This CG-animated comedy about a group of movie monsters who spend their time hanging out at an Eastern European hotel when technology makes them irrelevant has been tentatively set to open September 25, 2009

Idol (Indie-Pictures): Christopher Long and Mike Heim’s comedy about television producers trying to find a replacement for their recently deceased star will open at Laemmle’s Sunset 5 in West Hollywood on March 23

Killer of Sheep (Milestone Films): Charles Burnett’s drama, one of the first 50 films to be selected for the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry and chosen by the National Society of Film Critics as one of the 100 Essential Films, will finally get a proper theatrical release, thirty years after its debut, when it opens at the IFC Film Center in New York City on March 30

Pathfinder (Twentieth Century-Fox): The schedule hopscotch continues for Marcus Nispel’s 10th Century war epic, which is (for the moment) set to open April 20

The Pleasure of Your Company (MGM): Michael Ian Black’s romcom about a sad sack who spontaneously proposes to a total stranger after he is dumped by the woman of his dreams, now set to open on April 6

Smiley Face (First Look Studios): Gregg Araki’s stoner comedy will open in major markets on April 20

What the Snow Brings (Eleven Arts): Kichitaro Negishi’s Japanese drama about a family who returns to the father’s small home town after suffering through a crippling blow of bad luck opens at Laemmle’s Sunset 5 on May 11
