The Early Report for October 31, 2004: Part Two

This second part of the Early Report highlights the latest release date changes and additions, plus the newest MPAA ratings, as well as estimated screen counts for all films scheduled for release between December 2004 and June 2007.

Most Recent Release Date Changes and Additions

Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason (Universal): The sequel to the hit 2001 film will open on 500 screens on November 12 before moving into 2000+ screens on November 19

Constantine (Warner Brothers): The Keanu Reeves-led adaptation of the DC comic Hellblazer will now open on February 18, one week later than previously announced

The Dark (Dimension Films): Is it any coincidence that this long shelf-sitter (completed in late 2001), about a teenage girl who moves into a remote countryside house with her family only to discover their gloomy new home has a horrifying past that threatens to destroy the family, was scheduled for release only days after the phenomenal opening for “The Grudge?” We’ll see, when this opens on Christmas Day

Head On (Strand): German director Faith Akin’s story, about a marriage of convenience in Hamburg between two troubled Turks, will open in New York City on January 21

Lost Embrace (New Yorker): A retarded Jewish man enjoys a series of incredible travels, in Argentinean filmmaker Daniel Burman’s newest, which will open in New York City on January 21

The Other Side Of The Street (Strand): Marcos Bernstein, the writer of “Central Station,” makes his directorial debut with this thriller about a retired woman who keeps snooping everybody in her neighborhood until she thinks she sees an ex-cop commit murder, which will open in New York City and Los Angeles on February 25

Proof and An Unfinished Life (Miramax): Two of Miramax’s expected contenders for Oscar glory this year, the former an adaptation of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play featuring Gwyneth Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins, the latter a modern-day Western fable starring Robert Redford and Jennifer Lopez, have been moved back to 2005
